Below are some documents, links and information that will help you become familar with some of the other activities we will do throughout the year. Please check back frequently and don't forget to sign up for the school E-newsletter on the Parents page.

READING HOMEWORK

Students are expected to read 20 minutes every day. Each student will receive their first monthly reading log in mid August. You will need to read with or to your child, log the name of the book and sign your name. Students who participate faithfully will be recognized at Semester Awards Assemblies.

Beginning in September, please print a new Reading Log every month to submit with your child's homework folder. If you cannot print one please notify me and I will be happy to send one home for your child.

MONTHLY FAMILY PROJECTS

Every month students will be asked to participate in a Family Project. These projects are created to encourage family involvement, develop creativity and social skills. Each student will be given the opportunity to share their project created with their peers.

MUSIC PROGRAM

Each year our students participate in our Annual Christmas Program and Community Outreach Event at the La Puente Senior Center. Both events take place in December.

Students will rehearse all musical assignments in the classroom but songs will be sent home as homework to help prepare them for their performance.

(Events subject to change due to other tentative events planned)

ART

In addition to art activities throughout the week, every Friday afternoon students will participate in a hands on Art Activity. Most art work will be displayed around the classroom and as door displays throughout the year. A few of the projects will be showcased in our Annual Art Gallery. If you would like to partcipate in the classroom this is the perfect time to do so! Please see our office secretary, Mrs. Mejia for instructions on how to participate with your student in the classroom.
